Cyber Security Incident and Civic Center Update Dear Residents: The cyber security incident that impacted White Lake Township is still under active investigation by federal authorities and impacted financial institutions, who are coordinating with the White Lake Township Police Department. However, we can report that White Lake Township never received any bond proceeds and therefore no bonds were issued. No White Lake Township bank accounts are impacted. No further details of the incident are available currently as this is an ongoing investigation. White Lake Township is moving forward with the construction of the Civic Center and is actively pursuing financing for the completion of the work. White Lake Township learned on November 21st that it has been a victim of a sophisticated cybersecurity attack that resulted in a compromised financial transaction related to a new issue of infrastructure bonds.
This matter is now under active investigation by federal authorities and impacted financial institutions, who are coordinating with the White Lake Township Police Department. While this matter is under investigation certain aspects of the Township’s new Civic Center project will be placed on hold. White Lake Township is conducting a comprehensive review of its internal systems and procedures.
