Balancing the Best
Meeting economic, environment and socials needs
A bustling business community, expanding housing market and new public amenities prime this “Four Seasons Playground” for continued growth.
White Lake Township’s approximate 32,000 residents enjoy plenty of elbow room. Its open spaces and parks comprise nearly 30 percent of the township’s 37 square miles and includes 6,000 + acres of parks, 21 lakes, and numerous farms and forests.
Highland State Recreation Area, Pontiac Lake Recreation Area, and Indian Springs Metropark, provide year-round outdoor adventures. A connector path along the north side of M-59 links users to the area’s all-season non-motorized trail system. Privately-owned golf courses and Alpine Valley Ski Area add quality leisure opportunities.
Creating Opportunities
White Lake Township’s 600 + businesses form a regional shopping hub anchored by national chain retailers. Oakland County International Airport, located at our eastern boarder, ranks as the world’s twelfth busiest general aviation airport. The airport serves more than 150 corporations. Hundreds of new housing units ranging from lake homes, rural estates, apartments and condominiums, welcomes singles, families, and empty nesters to the active township.
Infrastructure Investment
On-going investment in public assets support White Lake’s quality of life.
In 2019, the new $8.6 million White Lake Township Library opened its doors. The plans for a new Civic Center continue and are progressing. Plans include a new town hall, and a public safety building to house the police station and Fire Station #1. Clean up and development of the recently acquired 57 acre Stanley Park is underway. The community vision for this project is to add trail activities, a pavilion, picnic areas, beach access, and a variety of other amenities.
By prudently balancing development and natural resource preservation, White Lake Township forges a municipality destined for progress and success throughout the new decade.
The Township strives to balance the community's economic, environmental, and social needs. The Township's goal is to protect the identity of White Lake Township as a small country town with big city amenities; to protect and preserve its natural features while encouraging redevelopment of obsolete properties and directing growth and development to a central community core.
