Lead & Copper Monitoring

NOTICE

White Lake Township Department of Public Service is currently conducting Lead & Copper monitoring of our drinking water system.. This important water quality process helps us to insure that our corrosion control is optimized. We are looking for additional residents with homes built before 1988 to participate in our water sampling. These homes would generally be located in Distribution District #2.

Lead:  Children and adults who drink water containing lead in excess of the action level could experience delays in their physical or mental development. Some people who drink this water over many years could develop kidney problems or high blood pressure. Lead in drinking water is primarily from materials and components associated with service lines and home plumbing. White Lake Twp. Water Dept. is responsible for providing high quality drinking water, but cannot control the variety of materials used in plumbing components.

Copper: An essential nutrient, but some children and adults who drink water containing copper in excess of the action level over a relatively short amount of time could experience gastrointestinal distress. Some people who drink water containing copper in excess of the action level over many years could suffer liver or kidney damage.
